» Benefits & Research

Saskatchewan in motion encourages older adults to be “forever in motion” by living a lifestyle that embraces physical activity and active living. Everyone has a role to play in helping to make Saskatchewan the healthiest, most physically active province in Canada!

Physical activity is a general term that describes movement of the body that uses energy. (International Consensus Statement on physical activity, fitness, and health). Often, when we think of physical activity, we think of a grueling workout at a fitness centre.  That can be intimidating and unappealing to many people. While exercise is one form of physical activity, there are many other ways to increase activity such as active living (taking the stairs and walking), recreation, sport, play, dance and physical labor.
