Extreme School Makeover Challenge

The Saskatchewan Nutrition Advisory Council for Kids is challenging schools to develop action plans to improve school nutrition and health for the upcoming school year.

If your school is ready for a healthy change, check out the Extreme School Makeover Challenge.  Assemble a committee, assess your school environment, develop a plan to get your school where you want it to be.  Your action plan for a healthy change is your submission.

Submissions must include a nutrition component.  Other considerations include physical activity, school-wide participation, emotional well-being and community involvement.

Schools that successfully implement their actions plans will be eligible for one of three cash prizes totalling $10,000.

Visit the SNACK web site for more information and a submission template.

Deadline for submissions is April 1, 2009.

In motion schools

In motion schools get creative to reach their goal of providing at least 30 minutes of physical activity for every student, every day! These schools value the positive benefits achieved when  children are physically active.
