The Physical Activity Club

March 12, 2009
By: Cara Wilcock

A health initiative that our workplace has created is a club called the Physical Activity Club. If you join this club, you receive a free exercise log book/daily planner, in which you use to write down the number of minutes/hours of physical activity you do during the day.

At different milestones or at a certain amout of time reached, you are eligable to receive a prize such as a hoodie, water bottle, etc. Each milestone is designated to a certain prize. A person can only claim one hour per day, just to limit dishonesty and for prize purposes only. However, a participat is encouraged to do more physical activity if they choose.

Even though we work at a mine site with a 7 in/7 out schedule, participants can still record hours spent at home and at work. The mission of this club is to motivate and reward people to engage in regular physical activity whether they are at camp or back home, and to help them lead a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
