Saskatchewan in motion is a provincial movement aimed at increasing physical activity for health, social, economic and environmental benefits. Our vision is that the people of Saskatchewan will be the healthiest, most physically active in Canada.
Despite overwhelming evidence that regular physical activity is critical to personal health and quality of life, the majority of us remain inactive. Volunteer and public sector partners developed Saskatchewan in motion to help increase physical activity 10% by 2010, a target set by federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for sport, recreation and fitness.
A province-wide movement - Saskatchewan in motion has grown to a movement of:
- thousands of individuals
- more than 150 communities
- 370 schools
- more than 470 workplaces
- 800 champions and leaders
Building partnerships - The following partners work together to deliver Saskatchewan in motion:
- Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association Inc.
- Saskatoon Health Region
- Sask Culture Inc.
- Sask Sport Inc.
Additional partnerships with stakeholders and communities ensure the model continues to develop and grow to support the full participation of all Saskatchwan people in a variety of settings.
