Guest Curator Dawn Kobayashi
By SIM

Each month, we ask one of our in motion friends to share their favourite pieces of content from our website. This month's Guest Curator is Dawn Kobayashi.
“Growing up there was so much time to play outside. The fondest memories that I have are outside, playing hide-and-go-seek.” It’s important for people to be outside at any age and not be cooped up inside on a computer or connected to our phones.”
Dawn has talked to other moms who are fearful to send their kids outside. She feels that letting go of that fear and allowing kids to play outside will help prepare them to face consequences in life, and, perhaps more importantly, learn how to play.
Her biggest piece of advice for parents: “Sometimes we just need to turn off the news. Most of it is negative and it contributes to fear, but there are so many good things that can happen outside…so many things that kids can learn, like being independent, developing curiosity and resilience.”
