Active Healthy Kids Canada has once again given Canada a failing grade in its 2011 Report Card on Physical Activity for Children & Youth. This year's report card focuses on the critical after school period and factors that influence physical activity between the end of school and the dinner hour.
Recommendations for increasing physical activity during this period include:
- getting kids outside after school
- school-community partnerships
- youth leadership
- policy and investment support for physical activity in the after-school period
The report card is the most comprehensive annual assessment of child and youth physical activity in Canada.
