Make February 21 Family Activity Day!
Saskatchewan residents will be celebrating Family Day on Monday, February 21, 2011. What better way to celebrate than by making it a physically active fun day for the entire family. Saskatchewan in motion encourages all families and individuals to get physically active by incorporating a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity each and every day, including February 21!
Saskatchewan in motion recommends a shared responsibility to get our kids more active. By making sure our kids are active every day for a minimum of 30 minutes at school, at home, and in the community, we can all do our part. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and caregivers must take action to inspire the kids they care about to increase physical activity. Make an online pledge to do just one thing to make sure the kids you care about can be active.
Need some ideas? Try these for starters: walking, cross-country or downhill skiing, curling, skating, build a snow fort or a snowman, tobogganing or sledding, jogging, shinny, and if you’re indoors, try soccer, bowling, hide and seek, or push “play” on that favourite dance video.
Post a photo and win - Show off your family physical activity pride! Take a photo of your family enjoying your favourite physical activity and submit it to the Saskatchewan in motion Facebook page. Every photo submitted will be entered in the draw to win a $50 gift certificate to a fitness and sports retailer. The contest will run February 14 to 28, 2011 with the winner to be announced on March 2, 2011.
