International author, Richard Louv delivered a resounding message about getting our children back to nature. Louv's address was filmed at the Improving Health for Children Conference at Elk Ridge Resort in Waskesui, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 2nd.
Louv reminded conference delegates that nature is one of the few places that children are almost never sedentary. "Kids are always moving in nature, whether it's building a fort, following a trail or inventing a new game," said Louv. Saskatchewan in motion supports Louv's messaging as we believe spending time in nature will help children and youth achieve the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity, and more is better.
The Improving Health for Children Conference held June 1 to 3, 2011, was designed to provide a platform to discuss and implement key innovations to improve the health of all children.
