Physical Activity.
Research shows only 15% of kids are active enough and Saskatchewan in motion is working with community members, including youth, to do something about it.
Why does it matter?
For the first time in history, this generation of youth is expected to have a shorter and less healthy life than their parents. That means, with everything we know, all of our technology and advancements, we're forgetting one of our most basic needs and neglecting one of our bodies' most basic functions: movement!
Did you know that many Canadian children and youth have abandoned play time and physical activity for the bright lights of the screen world? According to Active Healthy Kids Canada, our kids are spending more than 40 hours a week in front of screens and heading down the risky path of sedentary behaviour and an inactive lifestyle.
What can you do?
Here's the upside: the solution is simple. Move more and move often!
The physical inactivity crisis is something you can choose to change for yourself and the people you care about.
Meeting daily physical activity requirements (60-90 minutes) is a realistic goal that will make you feel great. The best part is that you choose how you'll be active, so pick something fun!
