Why it matters

We need consistent physical activity to live healthy lives. National guidelines suggest kids need at least 60-90 minutes of physical activity every day.

Moving more helps you:

  • build and maintain healthy bones and muscles
  • develop cardiovascular fitness
  • meet new friends
  • reduce risk for some diseases
  • maintain a healthy body weight

It also:

  • reduces feelings of depression and anxiety
  • increases energy, self esteem and concentration
  • increases flexibility, co-ordination, balance and posture

And that's just the benefits to you. Physical activity is also good for the environment (walking or biking means less greenhouse gas emissions) and good for the economy (healthier people means lower healthcare costs).
